Phoebe Stothert
Having read Business management and marketing at Northumbria University, a career in business was subsumed by my passion for gardens, design, plants and being outdoors.
For the past two years I have been building up my experience by working at Pickmere Perennials, Volunteering at Arley Hall and helping to build the Mind Trap garden, by Ian Price at RHS Chelsea 2017.
I have been fortunate, to have travelled around the world and seen some of the most beautiful gardens. This has further inspired me to pursue my passion.

The work of Jane Stothert, an abstract artist, became the inspiration for the courtyard design. Interested in simplifying her images into colourful and geometric hard-edged shapes, makes the final image beautifully clean and contemporary.
With this concept in mind, my design evolves around a stripped back motif, referenced through the use of only 3 solid shapes. This has created a place of serenity away from the outside world.
Cambridge Cottage set back from the idyllic yet infamous Kew Gardens strikes a perfect setting for a secret garden. A secluded getaway to explore, take time to unwind and absorb the distinctive atmosphere of the surroundings.
“If you look the right way, you can see that the whole world is a garden.” – Frances Hodgson Burnett
Lead by Georgian architecture, the design has been developed through the deconstruction and manipulation of the linear elements of Cambridge Cottage. Dissecting the construction and using this as a stimulant to guide the design and create a cohesive hub for the intended user group.
