Biography:
I worked as a gallery technician all over the UK and Europe before following the long help ambition of studying garden design. I design beautiful contemporary spaces inspired by the city around me and the countryside where I grew up. Having studied photography at university I have eye for detail and love of colour. I like simple lines and clean materials along with soft planted edges and striking sculptural elements.
Using materials like gravel and reclaimed scaffolding boards I created a relaxed natural feeling garden. The large grey pergola along with an existing mature tree gives the space some vertical character and the dark grey fence at the rear blurs the boundary making the garden feel larger. The naturalistic planting softens the edges vintage furniture adds character making the whole space great for the entire family to enjoy and entertain in.
The aim with this contemporary space was to echo the interior of the property to create a seamless transition between interior and exterior. The way I did this was to use clean lines and clearly defined spaces. The custom made cedar fence is key creating a beautiful warm boundary enclosing the space for both privacy and making it feel like another room of the house. Finished off with porcelain tiles and hardwood deck mirroring the clean lines of inside. The planting is simple and hard working giving colour all year round.
