Planting design at Kew – Design your own borders with Andrew Fisher Tomlin

Andrew Fisher Tomlin, our Director of Environmental Design teaches on our unique Planting Design Diploma as well as training students in planting design on the Kew Diploma. He will explore how designers are using a range of contemporary planting design approaches in their day-to-day work, introducing you to different contemporary planting approaches including ornamental and naturalistic design processes and introducing new ideas around wilding.

Whether you are a garden enthusiast or an early career designer wanting to refresh your skills, this day will support you in creating rich, engaging planting in your own garden and other spaces. There will be an exercise in contemporary ornamental planting design for which you have the option of bringing a measured drawing of your own borders or choose the one supplied.

As part of the day Andrew will lead us on a short tour of some of the planting at Kew Gardens to provide some inspiration to take away.
